WHAT DOES ZERO WASTE MEAN?
Zero waste can mean a lot of things, and we try to address our waste streams in as many ways as possible. However, our main focus at Nude Foods, is to not use any single use packaging. This means we package our goods in reusable containers. Another aspect of zero waste we try to tackle is reducing the massive amount of food waste our country produces. Whenever possible, we source overstocked and out of spec items that would normally be thrown away. These items are perfectly good to eat, they just don’t fit in with our current foods system e.g. ugly fruit.
ARE YOU REALLY ZERO WASTE?
The short answer is not quite. While we don’t use any single use packaging, some of the food we receive does come in single use packaging. However one big bag of rice is a lot better than 50 little bags. We are also able to recycle or compost almost all of the packaging we receive. Additionally, when working with local producers, we require them to deliver their goods in reusable containers. We NEVER cut corners and will always find a way to recycle or reuse, even if it’s a ton of extra work!
WHAT PRECAUTIONS ARE YOU TAKING FOR COVID-19?
We are taking the current health crisis very seriously and doing everything in our power to keep our customers safe. We wear a mask and gloves while we package and deliver your food. All containers and boxes are sanitized before being reused. We leave the box on your doorstep. If you have any questions or concerns about this, don’t hesitate to reach out to [email protected]
WHEN DO I GET MY FOOD?
We deliver our boxes to your doorstep once a week. Your delivery day is determined by your location and will be communicated to you when you sign up.
WHAT IF I DON’T KNOW HOW TO USE THE FOOD ITEMS IN MY BOX?
We’ve got you covered. Each week, we send out recipes (via zero-waste email) that use the foods we deliver. It’s a great way to try new things and discover new foods.
HOW DOES THE CONTAINER RETURN WORK?
You will be charged a $1.50 deposit for each container with your weekly payment. Whenever you give us back an empty container, we’ll refund you a dollar, keeping $0.50 to cover COVID level sanitization.
HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?
You are signing up to a subscription so you will be automatically charged each week for your boxes, delivery fee and jar deposits. If you get a ‘Bulk Up Your Pantry’ Box, that will be a one off charge and will reduce to the Build Your Own Box charge from week 2.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
We work with many local farms and manufacturers to create your weekly boxes. Since our goal is zero food waste, we order exactly as much as we need from them. We therefore have a 2 week cancelation policy in order to make these orders accurately.
WILL YOU OPEN A BRICK AND MORTAR STORE SOON?
So glad you asked! Yes, we have the temporary location (Broker Inn, South Boulder) which is kitted out and almost ready to open. Luckily it is rent free until COVID-19 is under control enough to launch. We’ll keep you posted as to when this will be.
